For more than 40 years Ken Chackes has been representing individuals whose legal rights have been violated. Ken’s current practice is focused on mediations, sexual abuse law, employment law, and disability rights.
MEDIATION – Ken has extensive mediation experience. He has served as a mediator in over 100 cases since 1999, primarily in the areas of employment, civil rights, and education. He also has represented parties in more than 100 additional mediations as part of his litigation practice. Ken is a Qualified Mediator for the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Missouri; Circuit Court for the City of St. Louis; U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission; and the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
SEXUAL ABUSE – Ken has represented over 100 individuals who have been sexually abused, mostly as children, by priests, other clergy, or family members.
EMPLOYMENT – He represents employees in a wide variety of workplace disputes involving discrimination and whistleblower protection.
DISABILITY RIGHTS LAW – Ken also represents people with disabilities seeking equal access to education and other services.
Ken graduated from St. Louis University School of Law in 1976. In addition to his private law practice he served as a full-time Assistant Professor at Washington University School of Law from 1984-88, teaching litigation and negotiation skills, and from 1988-92 he was a Staff Attorney and Managing Attorney for Missouri Protection and Advocacy Services, a state-wide disability rights organization.
